5 October, 2009 Monks in monasteries inside and outside Burma are now doing the Pattanikujjana, turning their bowls upside down and refusing to accept offerings from members of the military or the government or their families. U Than Shwe had a responsibility as a Buddhist to apologize, but he did not, so therefore he has been expelled from Buddhism and must be thought of as a Mecchadihtti a bad and ignorant person who has no idea about religion. Our Venerable Monks....

The SPDC never apologized even though there was a Pattanikujjana in 1990 to warn them and they sent many old and experienced monks to prison, even highly respected and educated Tipitaka monks. The monks inside and outside Burma successfully organized a second Pattanikujjana in September, 2007 after the army beat many monks with bamboo sticks. Not only did they fail to apologize but they also attacked more than 60 monasteries like bandits in the night, shot and killed monks, and forcefully brought 240 monks to prison for torture. Because the army has still refused to apologize until today, on October 3, 2009, Pavarana day -- the day for elder and junior monks apologizing to and forgiving each other monks inside and outside Burma successfully organized a third Pattanikujjana.

If top SPDC leader U Than Shwe were a true Buddhist he would follow the monks' demands and apologize for what he did wrong. But he has yet to do so. Instead, the soldiers have continued to raid monasteries, arresting, imprisoning, torturing and killing monks. This is why U Than Shwe and his wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing and his whole family are now expelled from the Buddhist community. We must now regard him as a Mecchadihtti who is destroying the religion. We would especially like to request to the soldiers who have entered the Tatmadaw army willing to sacrifice your lives to protect our country...

U Than Shwe is abusing for his own power the army that was founded by General Aung San for the independence of Burma. All people can now see that the military is destroying our country and religion, so the military has gotten a bad name and made people hate the Tatmadaw. That is why Mecchadihtti Than Shwe cannot be accepted as leader of the Tatmadaw and should be expelled by the soldiers from the army. We would like to especially request to the people of Burma....

Since a Pattanikujjana boycott has been formally called according to the monks and regulations laid down by the Buddha, all monks need to obey this Pattanikujjana. If they do not obey, the people should not give offerings such as food, shelter, robes and medicine to these disobedient monks. If any monks break this rule and receive donations from the SPDC or do the SPDC's bidding, people should write down their names and family names as well as the names and address of their monasteries and send them to the following email address: evillists@gmail.com.

They should also send in the names of army officers, village and town leaders, and USDA and Swan Err Shin thugs who follow Than Shwe's orders to jail, beat or repress monks. The monks who are in prison are sacrificing their lives for peace and for their people, so all monks and people have a responsibility to secure their freedom. This is why we would like to motivate all monks and all people to gather at the pagodas and Buddha images in your towns and villages and recite three Sarana, five precepts, and the Metta Sutta and sit in meditation for their merit, remembering the good things they have done in their lives and sharing those good things and sending love and a prayer for the release of all imprisoned monks.
